Mirah was a degree student at UiTM Dungun when she lived in a rented home for four months. As her semester came to a close, her bags were already packed, and she was ready to run out of that home.
She would be saying goodbye to a small house with its small plot of grass, and she would be saying goodbye to the ghosts that bothered her for all those four months.
Here is her story.
I stayed at this place only for a semester, about 4-5 months.
There were signs of it during our first few months there. Then, it was getting increasingly active toward the end – almost every night.
“Initially, there were 5 of us in that house. 3 of them couldn’t take it, and they left 2 months before the semester ended. So for the last 2 months, only 2 of us were in that house.”
The Paranormal Activities We Faced That Are Too Many To Count.
Once, there were only two of us at home.
Everyone had already left the house because they were afraid to stay. We were sleeping in the living room; we put mattresses on the floor and slept together because we were afraid of sleeping in our own rooms.
I saw the lights in the master bedroom were switched on, and there were shadows of someone walking, pacing back and forth in the room. It was around 2am, and we had just finished our assignments.
“Another time, my housemate and I were sleeping when we were woken up by a sound coming from the kitchen.” “I saw a little girl with her hair down, sitting at the edge of my feet.”
It was 4am. When I saw that, I looked over at my housemate and found she was also awake. We kept quiet, hid under our blankets, and waited for the azan subuh.
After the azan, we looked again, and it had already disappeared.
However, things started happening so often that I got used to them. Sometimes, I would see a round shadow with red eyes at the top of my closet, and I would go back to sleep.
What helped me most with my experiences at the time was my shortsightedness. Without my spectacles, all these “spirits” were merely blurry shadows.
We Stayed Anyways
We didn’t immediately leave when things started to get weird because it didn’t bother us at the beginning.
It was just things falling off in the kitchen, sounds of people running could be heard outside, etc.
But as it got increasingly active, it was already too close to our finals. My housemate and I were too lazy to find a new place to stay and decided to put up with the horrors until our finals were over.
The Nailed Plank
I only found out why I was experiencing the horrors in this home on the last day of my stay there.
“While packing and cleaning the house, I noticed a suspicious small plank of wood with nails and leaves around it at the ceiling above the front and back doors.”
As I was about to take it down, my dad stopped me.
That incident made me believe that the owners of this home were attempting to protect the place using “black magic.”
All Bad Things…Come To A (Good) End?
In the end, good things came out of my housemate and my perseverance through that whole ordeal.
We both made the dean’s list for that semester!
Looking back and thinking about this event, it was a hilarious experience. My housemate and I still talk about it now, laughing about it.
It’s definitely something different from what others experienced during their uni time.
