On May 11, Pang Sock Tao, running as a candidate for Pakatan Harapan, emerged victorious in the Kuala Kubu Bahru by-election, as confirmed by official reports.
Representing the Unity Government under Pakatan Harapan, Ms. Pang secured over half of the total votes, totaling 13,675. Her nearest opponent, Khairul Azhari Saut of Perikatan Nasional, garnered 9,837 votes. Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainuddin received 183 and 149 votes, respectively.
PN deputy chairman Ahmad Faizal Azumu graciously acknowledged their defeat, saying, “We accept the defeat with an open heart.” With 60% of the total votes counted, out of 40,226 registered voters in Kuala Kubu Bahru, Harapan’s lead was substantial enough to be considered the winner.
PH supporters gathered at the operations center to celebrate.

The by-election ensued following the passing of the incumbent, Lee Kee Hiong of DAP, on March 21 due to cancer. Ng Sze Han, the election director, expressed gratitude to the constituents for their trust in the Unity Government.
“Today’s success shows that the Unity Government is on the right track,” the Secretary of DAP Selangor said in a Facebook post.
“The synergy of National Barisan and Pakatan Harapan is the key to the stability and prosperity which will develop our multiracial country successfully.”
Ng Sze Han stated that Pang Sock Tao’s priority, after securing victory, is to focus on local economic development and addressing community concerns, aiming to make Kuala Kubu Bahru a sustainable town.
