It’s a ladies’ market, gentlemen. The girl always has the power to turn you down. There are ways to reduce the chance of that happening. But that’s another story. The question is always what to do on that first date.
Here I will explain why a breakfast date is the best.
Breakfast, NOT Brunch.
Do not take a girl to brunch.
The girl could hate your guts with every fiber of your being, and she would still say yes to a brunch date anywhere.
Girls love brunch (no, I don’t know why). So make sure it’s a breakfast date, where you either meet them or pick them up and get them there by about 08:30 in the morning.
Why 08:30 in the morning?
First, you get an immediate assessment of her level of interest.
“Because if she agrees, that means she has to get up early on the weekend to make that date. It’s pretty clear she’s into you or pretty into breakfast.”
It’s also an open secret that most women love a man who gets up early (she’s hoping for breakfast in bed, amongst other productive early morning things).
You get to see who she is
You get to see her level of common sense. I mean, what do you wear for a breakfast date? Does she show up casual? Or did she show up looking like she’d been out partying till the sun rose?
You either see a more “natural,” minimal make-up cutesy look or the party animal looking for Roti Telur Bawang, Nasi Lemak, two Kopi-O, soft-boiled eggs and roti bakar.
Either way, that date’s going to be an interesting one!
“It’s actually a good thing IF she’s not a morning person. She’s a bit grumpy, but she is THERE. It is a sign that she is interested in you and getting to know you.”
If you can have good, meaningful conversations at 8-something in the morning, that is a sign of possible chemistry.
Sidebar: Ladies. This is the time to put on that cute workout outfit you never wear to the gym with some running shoes and just a hint of lip gloss and eyeliner to maximize that cute, sexy, fit girl-next-door vibe.
Breakfast Can’t Break the Bank
If you somehow manage to break the bank on a breakfast date, you went somewhere expensive to impress—like a hotel breakfast spread. That defeats the point of a breakfast date.
Breakfast dates are about seeing the real person and interacting with them. You should be able to get a good western breakfast for about RM50-RM60.
That’s how you set things up for a breakfast date: great company and great food.
The trick will be finding an excellent non-franchise place with good food. As the one who initiated the date, demonstrate your expertise by finding an amazing place that serves either a Malaysian breakfast or a western-styled breakfast.
Stay away from big chains like McDonald’s and Starbucks. They do not count.
Avoids alcohol and Sex Questions
And as a rule, you don’t drink alcohol at the breakfast table, which means you’re both going to be pretty level-headed. Conversations will hopefully be meaningful and engaging because you’re both 100% present in the conversation.
One of the best things about a breakfast date is that it subconsciously takes away the awkwardness of what happens after an evening date – whether one should head out to ‘our place or theirs’.
This can be a problem when trying to start a relationship instead of having a one-night stand.
Get the next date!
If breakfast went well, you both had a great start to the day. Then it’s not a stretch to ask what she has planned for the rest of the day. Where things go from there is up to both of you to figure out.
But if breakfast went well, who knows where you might be having dinner together tonight?
Or even breakfast again, tomorrow morning?
