“Sweetheart, we’ve known each other through thick and thin for the longest time. And I have a feeling you might be thinking this is long overdue… but I would like to marry you.”
The Proposal

Girl:
He proposed to me while we were flying.
I knew he wanted to propose by the end of this year. He knows I’m a strong believer in choosing a feng shui date.
So to make sure it’s a date I would agree with, he called up my mom to ask. It was supposed to be a surprise, but my mom didn’t know and called me, saying she spoke to the feng shui master of the time period we should get married.
I was caught off guard, thinking, “Mom, what are you talking about?”

I knew he had been planning on this proposal for a while, so I didn’t want to ‘bocor’ the whole thing. By this time, we had already picked out the date for our wedding. I had already been thinking, “eh, there’s no proposal?”
Guy:
I was co-ordinating this master plan for the proposal with her sisters. I told one of her sisters to ask her mom to find out what is the perfect day, consult the feng shui master, and all that.

When we were in the hot air balloon, I was trying to find the perfect timing.
Many propose right as it lifts off.
They usually have the banners printed out, things like that. But to me, I feel that you would want to just enjoy the scenery first at the beginning.

Initially, I was thinking of playing the harmonica/other instrument in the hot air balloon itself. However, my learning curve wasn’t that fast when it comes to learning a musical instrument.
The Relationship Story
Girl:
We’ve been together for about 3 years. We met in 2005. At the time, we were just hi-bye friends. He was in another firm planning events.
Guy:
She came by to an event I was organising, and I talked to her there. So that’s where our story starts.

Our Advice To Anyone Planning To Propose
Guy:
Plan early. Make many plans, have backup plans! Have a few dates, just in case something comes up. If you want to learn a musical instrument, learn it ahead of time.
Girl:
Don’t reveal anything to the mother-in-law!
