I have a story to share about Parti Pejuang Tanah Air.
I was hired by them recently, specifically by [name intentionally removed] who is a former aide to Dr Mahathir Mohamad (Malaysia’s former prime minister).
My role was as a cybertrooper to manage their social media accounts, specifically their official Pejuang Tanahair (@PejuangJiwa) (PJ) account since March 2021.
I was recently instructed to create a video to frame Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim – and when I could not produce the video, they refused to pay me as my ‘punishment’.
My role is to spread news and messages about the party in a “fun” and interesting manner to attract young Malaysians to our page and get to know about the party. I have also been asked to ‘attack’ PJ’s enemies and ‘buy followers’ for PJ’s social media accounts.
I am 31 and was working in marketing but I was forced to resign because both my elderly parents have medical issues which require me to bring them to the hospital every now and then. As such it is difficult to hold down a 9-6 type of job. This is also why I was driven to take up this cybertrooper job.
I did not know [name redacted] personally prior to this and have never been a cybertrooper. I was introduced to him via my friend from university because I was looking for a job with flexible working hours.
I was not sure at first but the pay (RM5k) is decent for what I considered to be easy work.
They Asked Me To Create The Video To End Anwar’s Political Career
Then, last month my boss, who is [name intentionally removed] mentioned that Tun (Mahathir) wanted us to create a “gay sex video” to finish off Anwar’s (political) career before the upcoming #GE15 (General Election).
My boss gave me 3 days to create the video and to start spreading it online.
“3 days is not enough time for one person to do that kind of work…”
He ignored my response and replied that this was an urgent job as the general election is coming soon.
He wrote, “we must quickly end Anwar’s career.”
I told him again that the job would not be that simple. I even asked if he could find someone else to do it.
So, I declined the work and did my other tasks as usual.
To be honest, I was also getting irritated about how PJ was so focused on attacking Anwar, to the point of doing a video that I was scared could be illegal. Also, I could do a simple video with my basic skills but where would I get the materials from?
Still, PJ has not paid my salary for the last month and has continued to ignore me when I messaged him to ask what was the hold up.
In the end, my boss finally responded and admitted that my salary wasn’t being paid because I refused to make the video.
He said: “This is your punishment.”
Since posting about this online, I’ve been getting threats in my inbox. To prove my innocence, I’ve even filed a police report. Their strategy has always been to deny all wrongdoings until people eventually forget.
Soon, the truth will surely prevail.
