Over the past few days, a woman calling herself “Jungle Girl” has become the talk of the town when her homemade herbal oil reached a whopping RM1,000,000 sales revenue on TikTok.
Glimpses of Jungle Girl’s live broadcasts often pop up on TikTok, where she sells her “Minyak 1001 Khasiat Jungle Girl” (Jungle Girl 1001 Essential Oils).
Jungle Girl (real name Nur Rafidah), is a 26-year-old woman from the Orang Asli Jahut tribe in Kampung Penderas, Kuala Krau, Temerloh.
Fondly known by her fans as Fida, she started her business in November last year, using forest resources like kacip fatimah, tongkat ali, and honey as her main ingredients.
Who would have thought that this young woman, known by her Tiktok handle @nur_rafidah_man, would achieve impressive sales, moving thousands of units of products like herbal oil, herbs, and honey—all of which she produces herself?
How Jungle Girl started with Tiktok
Nur Rafidah’s entrepreneurial journey began when she decided to turn her interest in traditional herbs into a business.
She attended a multimedia and digital business workshop organized by the integration special education teacher at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kuala Krau, between June and August last year.
Fida learned how to record and edit videos, choose catchy content titles, and use equipment like microphones, lights, and tripods.
This knowledge helped her create engaging TikTok videos, eventually attracting a large following. The simplicity and authenticity of her TikTok videos make Nur Rafidah easily relatable to her followers.
“At first, I wasn’t sure I could do it, but after seeing the commission I earned from my first try, I felt motivated and continued consistently without hesitation,” she said.
She later expanded her business as an affiliate, promoting and directly selling other products like food and skincare to earn extra commissions.
Jungle Girl has become an overnight success
Now, the mother of a six-year-old daughter boasts 177,000 followers and more than 384,000 likes on TikTok.
According to screenshots of Fida’s revenue shared by X account X/@FaezCitizen and Facebook account Muhammad Azmi Jamaludin, in just 28 days, Fida and her affiliate agents managed to generate RM7.4 million in sales across three TikTok Shop accounts.
Additionally, it has been reported that Jungle Girl’s products are made by a registered cosmetic OEM factory in Kelantan. From the comments section, it was also revealed that the Jungle Girl oil product is registered with the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM).
“I never expected this to work, and I certainly didn’t think it would bring in more income than my previous job,” said Fida, who used to work as a school canteen assistant.
Although she initially had doubts, Fida remained consistent in her efforts after seeing the encouraging results from her first sales. Using her deep knowledge of traditional herbs, she now beams with pride as her herbal products, along with food and skincare items, bring in a good income.
Hearing Rafidah’s story is truly inspiring. What once was just personal knowledge of herbs has now turned into a lucrative business.
The income from her business also allowed Fida and her husband to purchase their dream home last May. What an inspiration!
