I used to work at a club and was invited to a ‘private party’ which turned out to be a trap, where I got drugged and raped by 2 men. My boss and the rapist wanted to settle the incident by offering me money to keep things quiet. I was young and stupid back then and made a lot of mistakes. This is my story.
I was around 21 or 22 years old. I was wild and loud and did many “bad” things, such as getting piercings all over my face, not minding having sex with several partners, and f**king around with any Tinder guy that I matched with.
My mom had just died, and the year before, my grandmother had just passed away, and she was the one who raised me, as my parents divorced at a young age.
I used to be a lesbian before this, and as a club waitress/hostess, we drink with the customers if there are any extra leftover beers. One guy in particular then invited me to go to a ‘private party’ that was to be held at a different location.
Once I was done with my shift, I went with him to the ‘private party’, where his friend showed up. It turned out to be a hotel room nearby, and I thought, “OK, maybe more people will come later on.”
However, when I came there, they raped me.
He had given me a drink, and I had no idea what it was. It’s the one where you are aware of things, but you can’t control or move your muscles. I could not even push him away when they came on top of me. I was fully conscious but numb. I felt tipsy, and there were 2 of them when they took turns with me.
When I woke up in the morning, I realised I needed to get out of here. There were bruises, and I could see hicks around my private parts. I looked for the emergency staircase, as I was afraid I would bump into them again. I was terrified for my life.
I didn’t know what to think or feel or who to talk to. I told my friends, but they thought I was lying because I didn’t want to do a police report.
When I returned to the club owner and told him what had happened, the owner managed to find out who the patron who raped me was. It turns out he was a regular. He was a “somebody”.
The rapist was extremely arrogant, and the owner said he should give a financial token to me. He wanted to give me a lump sum of money to keep quiet and forget about all of this.He told me to forget my friends and leave town. I was sitting at the back of the club when the club owner and the rapist were talking about what to do with me, and I was shaking. I was horrified. They saw me as though I was a piece of shit.
The way they looked at me as though I was nothing like I was a one-night-stand prostitute – I just wanted to run away. Even a prostitute gets paid. I told the boss I wanted to quit and run away.
The token was RM6,000. I returned to my hometown and gave some of the ‘tokens’ to my parents. All I wanted to do was just run away as far as possible from the situation, I could not stand to be there or look at the rapist anymore.
After the incident, I became a totally different person. I cut my hair short, and I was emotionally and mentally damaged.
Fast forward a few years, and I eventually ended up having a baby with a guy I met during the MCO. The baby was my catalyst. She straightened me up, as I had to live and take care of her. I had to be responsible, and I love her so much; she’s the reason why I’m still OK with life and being alive.
