In this story, a Malaysian citizen shares how uncomfortable he feels about seeing women wear tight jogging pants and expresses his wish that they would wear more modest clothing.
Why do women like to wear leggings while jogging?
My apologies if my comment offends any woman who reads this, but I’m genuinely asking: Why is there such a huge difference between men and women in their choice of sports attire?
Allow me to explain. The biggest challenge I have to overcome every morning while sending my children to school is having to look at women’s buttocks while they are out jogging.
Many of those that I see aren’t attractive or beautiful, in fact there are many disgusting eyesores. When I catch sight of them, I’m serious when I say it really spoils my morning.
Only once in a while will I come across a view so magnificent it may cause even the turban of an Ustaz to fall off!
Sorry, I’m not a yellow-minded pervert. I am just a driver who has to drive carefully on a busy road with men and women jogging on it every day.
It’s normally not a big deal, but it becomes quite a challenge when most of them jog with, not against, the flow of traffic. All while paying no mind to the oncoming cars behind them.
So it’s we the drivers who have to be extra careful to avoid them. It becomes impossible to avert your gaze from the full range of Malaysian buttocks on display, often without any sense of shame or propriety.
Most of the men jogging I see are more courteous by wearing 3-quarter pants. If they wear leggings, the leggings are worn under the shorts.
And even when the men wear shorts, they don’t wear the tight ones where you can see the outline of the butt. So I’m genuinely asking, why can’t women do the same?
I think it’s sad that while I see many Muslim women wearing hijabs, from the waist down it’s almost like they’re walking around naked (due to the figure-hugging jogging attire).
Listen, I am a normal human being. I know that I need to keep my attitude, mindset, and morals in check. I do have self control over my own actions.
I know that people have the right to wear whatever they want. But really, what’s wrong with women extending just a little sense of cooperation towards men by opting to wear more modest clothes?
For the men who are husbands and fathers, and a reminder for myself too: It is our role and responsibility to take care and protect our women. As Zakir Naik says, we shouldn’t allow our mothers, wives, daughters, and sisters to be viewed as sexual beings in public.
